That's how I intially had it too. When I changed it to just /selfoss or whatever the folder name is, it started working.

EDIT: WOAH I misread your help. Hey guess what that is correct! you fixed my problem! Thanks, and please ignore the craziness I have below!

Right, I did that already, I forget what problem that fixed for me, although it does seem necessary. But that doesn't seem to help any with this. The line in .htaccess reads:

RewriteBase /var/www/selfoss

which is the folder everything is in. But trying myip/selfoss in my browser only gives a 404 error. My server information listed on that page is correct, so I know its not some connection issue. It just won't load index.php

I just solved the same problem. I had the wrong path in this step...

"One little change is necessary in /var/www/selfoss/.htacces: Remove the hash character (#) from this line: #RewriteBase /selfoss"

It needs to be just the folder selfoss is unpacked to. I had put the entire path.

Hope this helps!

Hi everyone, I've been following the selfoss installation instructions on my debian machine, and I've managed to fix my 500 internal sever error (Hooray!) but now it looks like my machine can't find index.php!

"The requested URL /var/www/selfoss/index.php was not found on this server."

This is especially vexing as I can clearly see /var/www/selfoss/index.php through shh. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance
