There's some nasty html sanitizing going on in multiple places here. It's so deep it may be easier to re-write a new feed downloader from scratch...

Some tweaks I've done (reply)

I've pushed a few changes to my fork. If people are interested, let me know, and I'll put these into proper pull requests to merge upstream.

Use the same fonts as Google Reader

Make updates configurable to only fetch recently updated feeds.
With this, I have 3 cron jobs at varying frequencies to fetch feeds updated in the last day, week, or grab all. This way I'm not pounding infrequently updated feeds.

Add an "open" link to the entry bar in desktop mode. The other links to the original were too small for my taste.
c224990d3ab0f346e7999291e04de445108c59db

Refresh the list after I marking all read

Disable 3 column layout
bba67e02eb0681200892b1222729d7e2414b8d49

My last big issue is the feed entries don't look as good as they do in Google Reader. It looks like too much of the HTML is being stripped out for my tastes. After I fix that, selfoss will be the perfect GR replacement for me. Thanks everyone for all the work!

I am mostly interested in that open-link button. I think the configurable feed-fetcher might also be interesting, just not because of the 'pounding' - but for reducing the load on my not-so-powerful RaspberryPi Server
